How We Make Children’s Hairdressing Look Easy

Are you dreading bringing your little one to the hairdressers because they might be scared of the noises, the instruments, and the people? Hairdressers can be noisy places, what with chatter, music, and hair driers. We understand that your child’s first haircut can be a nerve wracking experience, especially if they’re sensitive to change and sound. Don’t worry, though, because our children’s hairdressers in Didcot make this look easy. Here’s how we do it:

Friendly, happy, sensitive service

Our team of hairdressers and hair stylists are super friendly and warm, so there’ll be no scary faces waiting for you and your child at your first appointment. Instead, you’ll be greeted by smiles, manners, and plenty of friendly conversation to show your child that we are nothing to be afraid of. We’ll chat to you about what might cause your child upset and then ask them about school, their hobbies, their friends, or just let them sit peacefully if they don’t want to chat.

We go at your child’s pace

If your child becomes distressed, uncomfortable, or wants a quick hug from mum or dad during their haircut, we’ll take a little break to make sure they feel settled again. We might even have some juice or biscuits hidden away in our Didcot hair salon that we could share! Mum and dad are welcome to stay as close as they like to their child, and we don’t mind if you set up an iPad for your child to watch or bring some toys for them to amuse themselves with.

We’ll help your child get used to hairdressing

Children’s hairdressing is important because it helps to acclimatise your child to a service they’ll use for the rest of their lives. We’ll take a slower approach if your child needs it. What we’d recommend is bringing them along to your own hair appointment, so they can see how relaxed you are in the chair and how there is nothing to be afraid of. This is best done before they have their first appointment, so when they come in they won’t be shocked or surprised by the sounds and sights of the hairdressers.

We are also a children’s hairdressers that are capable of cutting the hair of autistic children. We are a friendly independent hair salon, so we are quieter than your large-chain salons. This allows for a comfortable experience for your child, limiting the distressing sounds and sensations as much as possible for them.
